Knee Exercise

Lower Back Exercise

Back Exercise

Upper Back Exercise

Exercise your arthritic joints. This strengthens muscles and helps you stay active. Regular exercise would gradually reduce your pain and improve your mobility. Breathe normally while exercising. To avoid getting fatigued, do not hold your breath while exercising. Reduce your weight through diet and exercise. There is a direct link between OA and obesity. Weight loss can significantly reduce stress on your joints and slow the progression of OA. Ask your doctor about alternative analgesics, if you are not satisfied with the pain relief. Inform your physician of certain conditions that make your pain worse like insomnia, depression.

Do not self medicate with NSAIDs (e.g. Diclofenac, Lornoxicam, Etoricoxib). Frequent use of these drugs can accelerate the progression of OA and is associated with the development of kidney and liver toxicity and causing gastric ulceration and bleeding. Hence, do not take these medications for longer than advised by your doctor. Do not exercise during painful flare ups. If pain increases after doing exercises, stop them and consult your doctor.
